Children’s author and youth motivator Patrice McLaurin will visit Minor Elementary School on Friday, March 24 to talk to students and sign books.
Her book, “Have You Thanked an Inventor Today?,” is full of inspiring messages that will connect with children and adults during her visit. She will meet with grades K-1 from 9 to 9:30 a.m.; meet with grades 2-3 from 9:35 to 10:05 a.m.; and meet with grades 4-5 from 10:05 to 10:35 a.m.
Ten lucky students will be selected to have lunch with her from 10:40 to 11:15 a.m. in the library. She will sign books in the media center from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A graduate of Jess Lanier High School and Alabama A&M University, McLaurin has worked as a youth motivator for more than 15 years. She’s taught character education in various school districts, as well as organized and facilitated numerous youth workshops. She is a native of Bessemer.
She is currently completing her own character education manual, which is designed to inspire urban youth. It is called “Droppin’ Jewels: Hip Hop Quotables to Live By”.
McLaurin currently lives in Lawrenceville, Ga. with her husband and two children.
