River Eves Elementary School hosted Patrice McLaurin, author of ‘Have You Thanked an Inventor Today?’, on Feb. 21st, as part of its curriculum that prepares students for careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

‘Have You Thanked an Inventor Today?’ is an illustrated children’s book about inventions that are used every day.
Correlating with Black History Month, students also learned that components in cell phones, street lights, peanut butter, hair brushes, lunch boxes, guitars, potato chips and the Super Soaker water gun were created by African-American men and women.
