“Have You Thanked an Inventor Today?” is excited to have participated in Feldwood Elementary School’s Career Day!  We’re also elated to have inspired their Science Challenge of the Week!

    Your Science Challenge This Week
    (January 24, 2017)
SS5G1: I can identify Black scientists and mathematicians who were inspired by courageous Black Civil Rights leaders
during and after the Cold War.
    FELDWOOD CAREER DAY

For this challenge, we took advantage of a Career Day activity to meet & greet the author of Feldwood’s STEM Book of the Month, Mrs. Patrice McLaurin. She wrote her very first children’s book and called it, Have You Thanked An Inventor Today? In it, she shares her passion for African American inventors and how their genius has had a positive affect on our culture. Little known inventors in the book include George Crum, the inventor of the potato chip, and Lyda Newman, the inventor of the hairbrush. We also had the opportunity to meet and ask questions of a criminal investigator, a car repair owner, and a radio personality.

We had a wonderful Career Day!
